Today I get to be part of an amazing blog hop from the Fat Quarter Shop, showcasing their latest pattern: Firecrackers. Isn't it lovely? I found that this quilt was time intensive, but not as difficult as it looks, and the result is so beautiful!

Here's what you'll need to make your own: A Quilt kit (includes two jelly rolls, neutral fabric for the quilt top and binding fabric), Backing, Pattern, and Triangular Ruler. The pattern is easy to follow, but there's also a great video tutorial here.

As part of the blog hop, The Fat Quarter shop is sponsoring a giveaway. I get to giveaway one 30 degree ruler, needed to make this quilt.
2- After you've done that, leave a comment on this post (don't forget to include your email)
Giveaway closed and the winner has been contacted. Thanks!
I quilted mine on my home machine with straight lines bordering the white diamonds.
I used a polyester high loft batting. Call my crazy, but I actually like using the polyester batting. In this quilt, it created a little bit of a puffy look. I like how it emphasizes the diamonds.
My backing fabric is from the Hello Darling line by Bonnie and Camille (love the little flowers!)
Originally, I was going to bind this one with an orange peel pattern in red, but I decided it needed a solid binding since the quilt was so busy on its own. I'm so glad I went with the dark blue!

I followed on Google plus but I read my blogs in Digg Reader so I followed there too, because wow your blog is lovely!! I love that you used the high-loft batting, I've never seen it used on other modern quilting blogs. I think it looks lovely! All squishy and warm, like a duvet (I remember having to manually get my head around why quilts were so FLAT when I first started quilting - I'd only ever used duvets before). Is just outlining the diamonds enough quilting for this? I also really like your binding choice, the solid is nice and stable, not so flighty as a print.
ReplyDeleteI have been a Bloglovin follower for a while now!
ReplyDeleteI really like the white offsetting the beauty of the Gooseberry prints. The quilting is very special, too, giving the quilt a fluffiness and softness!
I am a BL follower.
