Ombre Binding and Finished Quilt

I'm just finished my triangles quilt (free pattern here).  I didn't have anything that was working right for the binding.  I decided to try something new, and do a scrappy - ombre binding using fat quarters.

I used four shades of blue and cut 4 strips from each fat quarter (I do 2.5" strips).
So, I had 16 strips measuring 2.5" x 22"

I sewed my strips end to end using this method from Red Pepper Quilts.  I had plenty of binding tape for my finished quilt, which is roughly 44" x 90".

I'm surprised that the ombre isn't as stark as I thought it'd be, but I like that its subtle.

And I quilted in straight lines following the triangle pattern.

This is a Fund a Quilt project, so it will go to a child who is struggling with a chronic illness or disease.  If you know someone who is and who you think would love this quilt - let me know!
